San Francisco ILWU Local 10 unionist, anti-apartheid activist Leo Robinson passed away January 14, 2013. He played an important role in organizing the labor fight against South African apartheid which was eventually won with critical support from ILWU Local 10 and the ILWU as a whole.

The South African Ambassador to the United States Ebrahim Rassol spoke at ILWU Local 10 in San Francisco on Saturday March 23, 2013 to honor the life of ILUW Local 10 activist Leo Robinson and ILWU Local 10 for their labor actions in the US in opposition to apartheid. He was introduced by ILUW Local 10 member and leader Clarence Thomas. Ambassador Rassol presented the Nelson Madela Humanitarian Award to the wife of Leo Robinson and to ILWU Local 10 at the meeting.
