Time For United Labor Action To Bust The Union Busters
For Solidarity Action To Back The ILWU Grain Workers, Oakland Port Workers And Port Truck Drivers

The frontal attack on all working people and the unions continues unabated. Northwest longshore grain workers face a possible lockout or strike as the grain companies want the concessionary EGT deal. In Oakland SEIU Local 1021 Port Of Oakland workers continue without a contract while fast food workers at Oakland Airport face firings for simply wanting a union to defend their working conditions and labor rights on thejob. At the same time thousands of truckers on the West Coast work without contracts and the trucking companies and port commissions continue to fight their efforts to get a union contract.
The danger of concession bargaining is growing like a cancer. The concessionary EGT contract has emboldened the maritime bosses with the support of the Obama administration to go after all longshoremen. Obama has ordered the US Coast Guard and Homeland Security to back up the union busters if longshore workers fight to shut down the port. This is the same candidate our union officials are hustling votes for and who they say is a "friend of labor".
In Oakland labor supported Democratic Mayor Jean Quan has appointed a mostly corporate union busting Port Comission who want to make the working class pay for this crisis by cutting jobs, closing schools and eliminating social services despite the great wealth generated by the port of Oakland, the 4th largest port in the country. She has supported the use of the police against Occupy Oakland and her port commission is openly engaged in firing fast food workers at Oakland Airport who are supporters of Unite Here Local 2850.
The Transport Workers Solidarity Committee calls for joint action by all port workers to back up the ILWU grain workers and Oakland Port workers and truckers to get contracts for all workers on the West Coast.
