The Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Central Labor Council will hold a rally at Longview’s Civic Center on Saturday in a show of solidarity for local unions as they begin contract negotiations.
From 3 to 5 p.m. the group is hoping to draw 1,000 people to the park in front of the Monticello Hotel.
“This rally is simply to demonstrate to local employers that unions will band together to help each other in times of need,” said labor council spokesman Kyle Mackey. “Help could be in the form of financial support, bodies on a picket line, or negotiating advice. The labor council is here to facilitate to all the individual unions.”
